How Pre-Authorized payments work?

I activated the pre-authorized payment on my account. Its due date for last bill, was yesterday. There is a record on bill history that shows the bill was paid yesterday. However, in my bank account there is no record to in order to deduct the bill till now.

I know it might take time, but I'm curious if this action affects credit score or not?

Hey there @Danyal

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

Preauthorized payments are not taken directly on your billing date;

If you've set-up your preauthorized payments via credit card, it can be taken up to 5 to 10 business days after your billing date.

If you've set-up your preauthorized debit payments via your bank, the payment can be taken up to 18 calendar days after your billing date.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, my question was about negative effect on credit score. Since the due date was Jun 18, but the bill was withdrawn from the bank account Jun 19.

As long as the payment is in your account before your next billing date it will not affect your credit score.

Hello Moderator,

Actually i have a pre-authorized payment by credit card on August 17. We're September 3rd and nothing appear on my credit card. It's much more than the 5 - 10 business days?

Should i manually pay this bill?

Hi there, @dell. Welcome to the Virgin Plus Community.

Have you reviewed your credit card statement or spoken to your credit card provider? If there was an issue that prevented the payment from going through (e.g. insufficient balance, technical issue, etc.) then the payment would be considered "backed out" and would not be attempted again until your next billing cycle.

In this case, to avoid late payment fees it would be recommended to pay manually.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hi,

I set up a pre-authorized payment for my phone's monthly bill. Unfortunately, it did not work. I want to pay for it now. Does this delay affect my next bill? Is there gonna be any penalty or fine on my next bill?

This is more a feedback. I got my first bill, I decided to set up pre-authorized payment there and then.

Now it has been a few days and I would have expected it would charge from my credit card already.

Credit card account shows no pending transaction. Virgin sent me a text and says I still owe.  I will manually pay it today.

So what's the point of even setting it up if it doesn't activate in the first place!

Would I be charged a late payment now because your system did not function as it should?

I have had a pre-auth payment setup at Virgin for the last year. This month, randomly, Virgin still hasn't taken my pre-auth payment. Customer Service has no idea why, they keep telling me to just wait, but my bill is due today and there is still no pre-authorized payment.

What do I do in this scenario?

Hi there, @PuffyPanda. Welcome to the Virgin Plus Community.

We wanted to check in and see if you were still having any issues with your pre-authorized payment being withdrawn. Do keep in mind that payments are not automatically withdrawn when the bill is issued, nor are payments immediately due once issued.

Let us know if you were still in need of any assistance.

I have set up my pre-authorized payment through credit card. Yesterday was the payment due date, but it did not show on my credit card or my virgin plus account. How would I know if the payment went through? If it was later revealed that the payment did not go through, would I be charged late payment fee?

hopefully you proactively just manually paid it yourself. I haven't gotten a late payment fee but the pre-authorization is flawed, I believe it only works for the following months after set up.

I just transferred my number to Virgin Plus this month and setup a pre-authorized payment for the bill. My account page already shows "Pre-authorized Payment set for Dec 15, 2023", but the bill is still not paid on today, Dec 19, and there is no record on my credit card as well. So I wonder if I have to pay it manually or something's wrong for the pre-authorized payment?

Switched to Virgin recently. First bill was due yesterday. Authorized credit card for payment a week ago. Even though yesterday was a Friday and banking day. No money has been deducted from my credit card. Should make a manual payment for first time and then auto payment will kick in?
