Mass incoming text messages makes virgin cell phone useless.

I have just started to get scam incoming text messages hundreds of them. I tried to block them as spam but just too many. I have had to resort to setting to airplane mode and my cell phone is now useless. How can I resolve this issue ?

• Are the contents of the text messages all the same or different?
• Have you recently provided your phone number to any company or for any services?
• Have you sent a text message to a digital service or company?

Text messages are not all the same but there are a few repeats from matrimonal servicesetc but all different phone numbers.

It seems have to have been resolved now. I disabled SMS and waited a day to try again and now there is no messages. I have not given my phone number to anyone recently or sent text messages to other services.
