Hi, does anyone know if/how we can decrease the number of rings? My new phone is currently at 6 rings, and I would prefer it to be at 3.

Hey @frannie, thanks for reaching out to the Community.
You can easily decrease the number of rings before your voicemail picks up by following the steps below.
- Dial *61*voicemail-access-number*11*time#
- Voicemail Access Number is 6473832333 (this is the same number for all Virgin Plus Members).
- Time: the number of seconds (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30) before the call transfers to voicemail
- Press SEND, then a status message is displayed on the screen.
Example to set the amount of rings before your voicemail is triggered to 20 seconds: Dial *61*6473832333*11*20# and press Send.
The standard ring cycle varies from handset to handset and manufacturer; According to the norm, 6 seconds have to separate each ring. Ex: 1 ring = 6 seconds of “Standard” ringing, 2 rings = 12 seconds.
Let us know how everything goes.

I used code 05 instead of 20. The system pretended not being able to connect to the phone number.

To XB24: Not sure what you mean by this, but it's likely that the system didn't want "05", just "5". The number of seconds is preceded by a * and followed with a #, so it probably isn't fussy about the number of characters (which would mandate a leading zero).

I have tried to change the number of rings until voicemail answers from 3 to 6 rings. I follow the exact string *61*6473832333*11*25#. I get successful message on bottom of my iphone. When I go and test- it is still 3 rings. I have also tried 20 seconds, as well as 30 seconds. No change. Virgin tech support said talk to apple
It appears that I can get 4 rings when set to 30 seconds and using old fashion ring tone. I am trying to get 5 or six rings, as this number used to be my home phone. I don't carry it with me all the time. How can I disable and enable voicemail if it cant be lengthened? Not something I would change every day, but when I dont want to miss a call to vm

Hi there, @Howard. Welcome to the Virgin Plus Community, and thanks for your post.
You mentioned that Tech Support had advised you to speak to Apple. With this in mind, could you confirm if you're using iOS Live Voicemail? This had been pushed out with iOS 17 and may interfere with your existing preferences and settings with your standard voicemail inbox included in your Virgin Plus plan. For how to check and disable Live Voicemail, check out our How To article on How to use iOS Live Voicemail
Otherwise if you would still like to disable your voicemail entirely, please feel free to post in our existing thread titled Remove Voicemail from account - one of our Community Moderators will be happy to assist from there.
Let us know if you have any further questions.

I bought an iphone 15 which came with IOS 17. Yes , it was turned on by default. But I would not have known a difference about that, as this is the first iphone I have ever used. I read an article about how my greeting no longer plays when this service is turned on. I have not disabled it as of yet, but I will try in the near future. (too busy with other more pressing things). I still have no answer how or if I can toggle my voicemail on and off. Not permanently deleted.

Hello all, the Bell no. worked for me, not the Virgin one:
Time: the number of seconds (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30) before the call transfers to voicemail.

Virgin tells me that they cannot increase the ring time before my phone goes to voicemail. Presently it goes to voicemail in five seconds. It is impossible for me to answer in that time. Any solutions? Do I have to change carriers? Can anyone suggest a carrier that can solve this problem?

Easily? This thread is painful; the response is so unclear.
I get that things will vary by device, but this makes no sense: “Example to set the amount of rings before your voicemail is triggered to 20 seconds.”
So, if I want to figure out the number of apples, the number of oranges is … ?!
OK. I’ll figure out which is the right access number; then, the right code number, apparently; then, the number of seconds as they relate to the number of rings. (Maybe 6 rings is still possible even if the options only extend to 30 seconds? I never was good at math, but surely they would have said if 30 secs is the max, and 6 rings is impossible…?!) Then, I think, wait for a call to see how many rings it will actually be before VM kicks in?
Really? This is the stuff that should be easy peasy.
…. And it didn’t work for me either.
Pretty new virgin customer and so far it’s been a pretty painful experience all around. Thanks go to other users for contributing their knowledge! Here’s hoping someone else can make sense of this and help the rest of us! 🙏🏽
shoulda woulda coulda stayed with my previous provider. Sigh.
