Valerie Modem Physical Connections

I am awaiting replacement of a Valerie modem and plan to install it myself. While removing the old modem, I detached the connector shown below from the body of the modem itself. To do this, I had to figure out how to open a little panel on the back of the modem (no photo for this as I have already boxed the modem in preparation for return, but I can unbox and post a photo if necessary).

I am not sure this was the correct way to detach what I believe is the fibre optic connector from the old modem. I saw a video online about how to connect a new modem and this person connected the fibre optic cable to the modem using a connector that is "outside" the modem body itself - there was never any need to open this little panel on the modem body itself. Any feedback appreciated.

Hi,

I know your post is quite old now, so I’m hoping you will remember. I am running into the same problem as you. I need to return my modem, but the connecter is inside the box and I can’t figure out how to open that back panel. Would you have any recollection of how you did it? I don’t want to bust the modem.
