I just got a new phone, and paying it off through sweet pay. Only problem is I do not know how that works and was not explained properly. Is it added to my monthly bill and I pay it off that way? Or do I need to pay separate payments in order to pay the phone off?

Just financed an s23 ultra through virgin and after my first bill realized I was charged $205 up front for the HST on the phone (phone price was 1367). Yet I'm ALSO getting charged tax on the down payment and monthly payment? So I'm getting charged tax twice... $200 down the drain. Collecting tax twice seems fishy Virgin...

Hi there, @Caitlin. Welcome to the Virgin Plus Community.
Check out our original reply above for a link to our Sweet Pay FAQ; you'll want to scroll down to and expand the headers for "What do I have to pay when I purchase my new phone or tablet?" and "How are taxes charged with Sweet Pay?"
As a brief summary, you pay all applicable sales taxes upfront for the down payment when there is one. Any remaining taxes charged monthly are based on the remaining cost of the phone after the down payment.
Please bear in mind as well that as the Community is a peer-to-peer support channel, we're unable to speak to the specific nature of your bill and/or account.
Let us know if you have any further questions.
