I purchased an iPhone13 on August 26/22 and I would like to upgrade my phone to iPhone 14 pro for the better camera but apparently I have to wait until Nov 26 to do so without penalty . I’m going on a trip this week and would like the better camera . Why does this 3month waiting period exist for upgrades ?

Welcome to the Community.
When starting a new service, a period of 90 days/3 months is required before being able to sign a new agreement (in some cases, members have to complete the full agreement before being able to upgrade to a new phone).
The only way to bypass it, is by purchasing the new phone outright.
