Technician visit to upgrade Internet speed

can someone explain why a technician needs to go to the house when upgrading to a faster speed?

Thanks for your post, 

Most of the time a technician is required when moving from a Fibe to the Node to a Fibe to the Home connection. EX, going from a Steve modem to a Valerie modem.
