Switching from Bell to Virgin - Modem strength

I am switching from Bell Fibe to Virgin. Currently my modem is located in the basement and the wifi works very well. Will the Virgin modem work just as well?

Hi there, @Sherlenn. Welcome to the Virgin Plus Community, and thanks for your post.

It's difficult to say with 100% certainty, as we don't know what modem you had with Bell and which one you're getting with Virgin Plus, if there's a difference in your plans, etc. But generally speaking, both will be taking advantage of the same infrastructure wired into your home and there would be the same obstructions to wireless connections if both were in the basement.

So in a vacuum, yes - however smaller differences may be noticeable depending on details.

Best wishes. 🙂

Thanks for the response. Not sure if this helps but the Bell modem is the Home Hub 4000/Giga Hub, it has Wifi 6E technology. The Virgin one is the Sagemcom Fast 5689.

I guess I will find out soon enough. I ask the question because a few years ago I tried to switch to Videotron the the technician told me their modem would never work in the basement.

We never have that many devices running concurrently, only two of us.
