Hey there @Dolly2532 ,
Welcome to the community and thanks for your post.
Error code 2001 on a modem typically indicates a critical connectivity failure. The modem is powered on but cannot establish a stable or registered connection with your internet service.
Here are the standard steps to troubleshoot this issue, from simplest to most likely to resolve the problem.
1. Power Cycle Your Modem
This is the most common fix for modem connectivity issues.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the modem.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds. This allows the modem to fully reset.
- Plug the power cord back in.
- Wait for 5-10 minutes for the modem's lights to become solid. The "Online," "Internet," symbol light should be solid blue. If it continues to blink, move to the next step.
2. Check All Physical Connections
A loose cable can cause a connection failure.
- Fibre Cable: Ensure the fibre cable coming from the wall or Optical Network Terminal is connected tightly to the back of the modem.
- Power Cord: Make sure the power adapter is firmly connected to the modem and the wall outlet.
3. Check for a Service Outage
The problem may not be with your equipment but with the service.
