Spam Calls

For the past few months, the number of spam calls I've received has jumped dramatically. I often get called multiple times a day. Sometimes I get voicemails with automated messages in languages I dont understand. No matter how many numbers I block, new ones pop up. I'm at the point where I ignore most incoming calls, and it has impacted me when real government agencies were actually trying to reach me and I assumed they were phishing scams. Has anyone else had this problem, and how can I fix it?

I used to get one or two spam calls each day. In the past few days that number has jumped to 5 - 6 per day.

I block every number, but as you know, they keep coming. Is there anything you or I can do to stop this?

My elderly aunt and mom also get these and it confuses them. I tell them to ignore calls on their cell phones and just use their landlines.

FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS LOTS OF FRAUD HAS BEEN GOING ON THE NETWORK OF CELL PHONE PROVIDERS. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM COSTCO MOBILES FROM SUDBURY ON. BE CAREFUL WITH ONLINE ORDERS. TOTAL FRAUD

Did you ever get anyone to help you with this issue?  I get around 15 calls a day. Annoying!  On my phone settings I turned off any calls that are not in my contacts. I hope there’s a resolution.

Hi! I've received some strange and scam-y calls. I'm assuming they are Virgin Mobile numbers considering they begin the same as mine, same area code and prefix (I am a current Virgin customer living in Manitoba). They state that a delivery is coming for me, and when I said I wasn't expecting a delivery, one guy freaked out and started yelling at me... the other didn't say anything, just breathed heavily. I thought Virgin Mobile would want to know.

I just got a call form a Virgin rep who offered me a 50% discount on my bill with no obligation. He sent me a verification code by email as well as his name, employee #, and phone #. I was skeptical but all the safety checks were good. When I checked my account however, there is an order for a new Galaxy S23. At no point n the call was it mentioned that I was ordering a new phone.

I did not send out this text msg. text msg-sim.png

I chatted with an online agent on the evening of Nov 24th to ask for the Black Friday deal and the agent told me the loyalty team would call me. I asked which number I would be called by and did not get an answer. Then, I got a call and the person on the line asked me for the code I received from Virgin. I thought he was on the loyalty team and told him, and he said I got the deal. It turns out that I did not get the deal and I found the msg sending the code had said that if I didn't initiate the call contact a number ASAP. I called that number 4 times and was answered once, but these callings were not showing up in my voice usage detail.

I’ve been receiving spam calls from “no caller ID” for like 5 months now. Is there a way to find the persons phone number? I read *69 is meant to work but I’m guessing that’s the US only

How can I stop unwanted calls? A trading platform or company keeps calling, offering to trade stocks. They call from different numbers, sometimes even at night. What should I do?

I received phone calls from a guy named Matthew (who sounded Indian), and he asked me which mobile plan I was using. He claimed to be from Virgin Plus and offered a promotional plan to switch me to $29.99 a month. He requested my Virgin Plus account, password, and verification codes. Then he asked something unexpected about whether I would prefer a white or black iPhone 16 Pro Max. (I was like???) Shortly after, I received an email from Virgin Plus about purchasing a Galaxy S24 phone. I immediately informed him that I wanted to cancel the order, and he said he would handle it.

A day later, I received a package. That guy called again and said the cancellation was too late, and the S24 phone had already been sent. (He did ask me for my home address before) He told me I could return the phone to them and that he would assist me with the cancellation. He called almost every day to check my status and asked me not to open the Virgin Plus app, claiming they were processing something, and that if I opened my account, it would be locked.

Several days later, he called again and said he had received the package for the S24 phone and needed my bank account information to complete the cancellation. He asked me to reply "Yes" to a text message I received (but that was a money transfer attempt message from my bank). Anyway, I provided him with my bank account details, and later I saw several unauthorized transactions in my banking app. At that moment, I realized it was a scam.
**If this happens to you, stay calm and immediately call your bank to dispute any unauthorized transactions. Also, request new bank cards to protect your account**

So, NEVER DISCLOSE YOUR BANK INFORMATION OR ANY PASSWORD TO OTHERS!
It was a bad experience for me, and I hope everyone stays safe from scams.

Hi, it happened to me too! A guy called and said he was from Virgin, and he ordered a new Galaxy S24 for me. I canceled the order by chat, but then I received a bill that said I had to pay for the phone. May I ask how did you resolve this problem? Thanks so much!!

Clicking the website is not addressing the multiple spam calls received over the last few months.  What is the actual solution - blocking and reporting spam is not working!

Thank you

I had a very strange call from 1-888-77*-****. It was very early in the morning and I wasn't quite with it and the caller said they were to confirm that I had ordered a phone through virgin mobile. I said 'yes' as that was correct. The caller then said 'ok' and hung up on me (total call time was 21 seconds).

Realized later, when going through my call logs, that this call had the label 'Confidentiel Co' - the misspelling of 'Confidential' is a little worrisome.

Can anyone tell me what this was about? legit or not?
