Sim no longer recognized

The software on my Google pixel 4a5G updated recently and since then my phone no longer recognizes my sim card. I've tried restarting my phone, powering down and waiting before restarting, taking out the sim, cleaning it and reinserting and nothing works. Any thoughts on how to make the sim card work again?

We wanted to check in and see if you were still having issues with your SIM card.
With the troubleshooting you've already completed, our next recommendation would be to consider replacing the SIM card as whole. You can quickly get a new SIM card at any Virgin Plus store, where they'll be happy to assist with activating the new SIM or you can follow the instructions on our Support page, How to transfer my existing Virgin Plus service to a new SIM card
