Port-Out Confirmation SMS Not Received While Roaming

Hi,

I requested to port out my mobile phone number a couple of months ago, but I never received the confirmation SMS. I’ve been roaming during this time and wanted to check if the SMS can be received while in roaming, or if there is a security feature in place that might prevent the message from being delivered.

Now I want to try to port out the phone number again while not in Canada, so could you please confirm whether the SMS should still come through while roaming, or if there’s any additional step I need to take to receive it?

Your assumption is correct - port notifications are not communicated to users under a set of specific circumstances. Message will not be delivered if:

  • The device is off
  • Their account is suspended/cancelled
  • The user is outside of Canada

As such, you won't be able to complete any port requests until you've returned to Canada.
