Picture text message blurry after sent

Every time I send a pic or screenshot via text message, it comes out blurry to the recipient. But my camera is working fine. I never had this issue with Koodo before. This happens ever since I got a new phone with Virgin

Hi @DLL, thanks for your post! The Community wants to help, but we need some more details.

Can you share what kind of phone you're using?

- Patricia

Samsung Galaxy S21

Hey @DLL.

It sounds like the image is being compressed resulting in a blurry image.
Do you have your data turned on or off when you send the message? This could possibly affect the MMS.
Is this happening to just one or multiple recipients?

- Patricia

The data on my phone has not turned off since the phone was purchased. The blurry pictures happened to multiple recipients. A few recipients received fine images but the majority received blurry ones.

Thanks for clarifying, @DLL

Are you able to test sending a message a different way, such as through Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp so see if it still looks blurry?

It works fine in other apps. Just text messages.

Hey there @DLL,

Great to hear that it works fine with other apps. Can you share the size of the picture/videos that are blurry?

I recently switched to a new Samsung S22. I was noticing taking screenshots and sharing them via text resulted in poor blurry images for the recipient, and that photos I'm sending through text were quite blurry.

I had a chat with someone at Samsung who said the compression level on MMS is set by the carrier and not the phone. I feel like I pay plenty enough for my services and my monthly data amount far exceeds what I end up using, so I should be able to decide what compression  occurs.

Am I missing anything in the settings? I've scoured around as well as searched the internet and it all points back to the carrier.

My recent post was merged into this thread but this thread provides no answers. Where do I go from here?

Hey there @Zxcv

Welcome to the Community.

As confirmed above on the thread, have you tried sending the image through a different platform, such as email, Facebook messenger or WhatsApp?

Give that a try and let us know how it goes.
