Anyone know why I'm being charged roaming data fees while I'm at home. I'm definitely not roaming so what gives?.

Hi there, everyone.

There's an important distinction to be made here, as whether or not you're roaming is not exclusively determined by where you're physically at any given moment. It's determined by which cellular service tower your phone is currently pinging off of. Depending on your proximity to the US border, this can at times result in you connecting to a US tower incidentally. The best means to prevent this from happening is to disable roaming through your device settings.

Ive travelled from Calgary where I reside to Victoria on Vancouver Island.  Upon arrival I received a message welcoming me to the US??

I am NOT in the US!  Am I being charged roaming fees?

This is not an acceptable response from VirginPlus. If a person was charged roaming fees for being in the US, but was not in the US, that person should be getting their money back. Your network should have the capability of detecting when the user is in Canada and their signal pings off of a US tower. With 90% of Canadians living relatively close to the US border, it seems like this is more of a cash grab than something you can't automate a resolution for.
