Recently near Camrose AB where cell service is terrible for all carriers. This visit I got a drop down message saying something like I could connect via satellite connection assistant. I opened the drop down but the thought it might be a scam or it would be a user cost add on so turned off the phone and the icon disappeared. I ignored the drop down when it happened again later. Is this a service Virgin offers in poor reception areas (I read something about Starlink in rural areas now)? Does it cost to use it?

Will this feature be available on Android - specifically the Samsung S22? Rogers is currently offering this service for free on a Beta trial and then $10/month after October. Should I be activating my eSim with them to get it?

@VirginPlusKris Apple offers 2-years free satellite messaging. After that apparently we need a plan with the service provider. How can Virgin provide me a plan? Can you help?

Hi, @ianhowes. Thanks for reaching out.
At the time of this post, Virgin Plus does not offer standalone satellite messaging plans or add-ons. For the time being, you'll need to rely on the aforementioned Apple offer.
For any future updates, we'd recommend staying up to date on our social media accounts - these will be the best way to see updates on any new offers. 🙂
Best wishes.
— Kris
