I've been using my own router since I've been with Virgin Plus for the Internet.
It was a not easy setting up my "vincent" modem at first so that I could use my own router, but I figured it out. In the advanced settings, under DMZ, I turned the DMZ "on" and assigned my router's MAC address as the active device, and voilà! my router would get a legitimate WAN IP (an IP that is in the 142.0.0.0/24 or 69.0.0.0/24 IP subnets).
Since this morning, my "vincent" modem has been assigning a private IP in the 10.0.0.0/24 subnet to my router. This is a private IP, not a WAN IP. DMZ in the Advanced Settings
Is anyone else running into this issue? This is a big issue for me, as it prevents me from doing my work as I normally do.
Thanks

After this CGNAT move my PlayStation can’t connect to multiplayer network. It shows NAT type 3. My virgin phone hotspot still works. I think it is a stupid move. I will have to change internet service provider at this point

I have a Plex Media Server running on a Synology NAS at home that my wife and I use to listen to our music on PlexAmp when out of the house. Until recently. After spending ~6 hours troubleshooting from the Plex end of things, some very patient people have helped me understand that the issue seems to be that Virgin has switched our fibre internet service to "CGNAT" without letting anyone know, and that's killing our port forwarding.
My technical skill level is "with instructions I can do things like port forwarding," but not "I can configure a proxy server in the whatsabasket and forward the NAT traffic to the WAN zipbop using an SSH login to turn the 4.5 gigglewatt flimflorp to a 7.8 woogleblob".
Short answer: is there a fix for this without taking on a Master's degree in computer engineering, or should I cut bait on Virgin and get with a different ISP?

There is no fix, unfortunately. You have to switch to another internet provider if you need port forwarding.

Hi,
Just to clarify, did you have to physically bypass the Vincent modem or did you hook up your router to the Vincent?
