Cannot receive local calls from people in Saskatoon

I recently moved from Ontario to Saskatoon and now people can't call me that are in Saskatoon. Do I need my number changed? My area code is 289. Is that the problem?

Welcome to the Virgin Plus Community, and thanks for your post. 

This could be a simple composition error. They may have to add a 1 in front of your phone number in order to reach you.
