An Administrator password is required when accessing your Valérie or Steve modem’s settings.
By default, the password is set to ‘admin’, but you can follow these steps to set your own Administrator password for increased security.
Find your Administrator password on your Valérie or Steve modem
If you have forgotten your administrator password, your Valérie or Steve modem can email it you along with your Wi-Fi information (network names and passwords).
- Press the Password recovery button (key symbol) on the front of the modem.
- Check your email to retrieve your password.
Set or change your Administrator password on your Valérie modem
First, you’ll need to log into Valérie’s interface.
- Open a new browser tab.
- Type http://valerie
or 192.168.2.1 into your web address bar and then press Enter on your keyboard.
- Click Modem Preferences.
- If prompted, enter your administrator password. Unless you’ve changed it, the default password is “admin”. Click Log in.
- Type your current admin password in the Current password field.
- Type your new admin password in the New password field.
- Re-type the new password in the Confirm password field.
- Click Save
Set or change your User ID and Password on your Steve modem
A default network name and password are on a sticker on Steve’s back but you can change both whenever you want.
First, you’ll need to log into Steve’s interface.
- Open a new browser tab.
- Type http://Steve/
or 192.168.2.1 into your web address bar and then press Enter on your keyboard.
- Click Steve’s Settings under Your Modem.
- Click Steve’s Settings from the left hand menu.
- Under Administrator password click Change.
- Type your current admin password in the Current password field.
- Type your new admin password in the New password field.
- Re-type the new password in the Confirm password field.
- Click Save
