Hi there, @PB33. Welcome to the Virgin Plus Community, and thank you for your post.
We'd recommend taking the time to review our Roam Sweet Roam FAQ for details on what does and doesn't incur roaming charges. As for specific settings for your phone, it'll vary depending on the manufacturer (Apple, Samsung, etc.)
Let us know if you had any further questions.

I recently flew from Calgary, Alberta to the USA for a conference from October 17 to 23. I had my phone on airplane mode the whole time I was there. I did take it off to use wifi at the conference centre and at the VRBO. I come back and look at my cell bill and I have been charged an extra $91 on my bill for October.
Can someone in customer service please explain why this was done.
There was a reason I had my phone in airplane mode so as not to get charged.
Thank you

When you are roaming out of Canada do you have to pay the roaming fee even when you are not using data?

Hi
When roaming internationally with "Roam Sweet Roam" plan, when will the daily charges occur?
Only if we place a call or use data?
What about incoming SMS?
What if we recieve calls and don't pick up? What if they drop a voicemail and we don't access it?

With Roam Sweet Roam I didn’t see anywhere on the information if you pre-pay for it for a set period of time, or if you pay as you go. Which one is it?

I am travelling from home in Ontario to the UK for one week. I think from what I have read that if I turn on my data, I will be charged 16.00 every day that it is turned on. Correct?

I was just reading about Home Sweet Roam. It states that if you do not use the data, text or phone for an entire day that you aren't charged. Is that not the case?

Hello ! I'm in Japan for a trip and when I left the airport of Vancouver, I turned off mobile data and when in airplane mode.
I arrived in japan and remove airplane mode for the wifi, but it seems like my mobile data reactivated ?
Also, I am on wifi 100% of the time, only used Instagram, Snapchat, Chrome and Messenger. So no texts or phonecall.
I received a text from virgin about data pocket for travel. So I look at my data and 14go of 15go used even though like I said, always on wifi (wifi pocket, hotel, free japan wifi, etc)
What can I do ? I'll be charge a fortune even though I was on wifi constantly..

Dual sim phone
One sim my Canadian virgin, other sim local sim data only. No data enabled on my virgin sim.
At times my credit card needs to text me approval codes for example pay parking. Is there any charges if I'm not using data, not using phone calls and only having my sim on at times to receive texts?
From my reading it's free but looking for others to chime in.
All the best and thank you

Hey there @tampa111 ,
Welcome to the community and great question.
As you will be physically outside of Canada, Roaming rules will apply to you. This means that if you do not have a roaming package on your account, you will be charged roaming pay per usage rates.
You can review the Roam Sweet Roam feature as outline on this current thread and/or make sure you do not have any roaming restrictions on your account by visiting your plan description in My Account if you wish to stay on pay per usage.
Let the Community know if you have more questions.
