Travel Add-Ons and Billing Cycle

I find the relationship of travel add-ons to the billing cycle to be very confusing. Here is my situation: I will be travelling to the US for 8 days starting May 19th and want to buy additional data for the trip. I know that extra 2 GB is more than enough and I know they have a 2 GB plan for a month of extra data ($25). After a very confusing phone call with Virgin (although I am sure they were doing their best), I am confused about whether I need to buy one month's worth or two. The confusion arises since, apparently, I cannot arbitrarily choose the month long period - it must, instead, align with my billing cycle which, unfortunately ends right in the middle of my trip. Do I really need to buy 2 months worth of data even though I am only gone 8 days?

Here is what I think makes sense: My monthly allotment of data under my current plan = 2 GB. According to the Virgin site, my billing cycle will end on May 23rd. That means, I get a "fresh" allotment of 2 GB on the 23rd and I lose any unused data from before the 23rd, right? Well, I know that most of my data use on the trip would be before the 23rd and I also know that after my trip ends, I will likely not likely use data at all (I really use very little in my "normal" life). So I think I should probably just buy the extra 2 GB for the period that ends on May 23rd and then be sure to use up no more than 2 GB from that time to the end of my trip. Assuming I have explained this clearly, please offer any feedback. Man, I find all this insanely complicated, but I guess I have to live with this.

Another wrinkle: the website says my billing cycle end on May 23rd (7 days from now). But my phone tells me I have 20 days left to use up my presently active 2 GB. Again, I find this very complicated. Any explanation of this discrepancy eagerly requested.

Hey there @expos4ever

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

Yes, that is correct, when adding a feature to your account, it can only be aligned to your billing cycle.

In order to confirm your current billing cycle start and end dates, you can review the details on your service agreement and also on your monthly invoices.
