I just was wondering if you can trade in a non working Samsung galaxy s21 towards getting an upgrade?

Hi, I'm just trying to figure this out because the website says one thing and the employee at the kiosk I just talked to said something different.

I have an iPhone 15 Pro that I owe $420 device balance on and that's 7 months left. It is like new and I know if I trade it in it's worth more than I owe.

I want to switch to a TCL 60 XE and a new plan.

Can I get the trade-in amount and use it to pay the device balance and change phones at the same time? I know everything goes onto the next bill so I'm just wondering if I can use the trade-in value to pay for the device balance. Like get credit for the phone on the same bill as the device balance? The website seems like it's not a problem to do but if I trade my phone in after it says it would take 2-3 months to get credit but if I try to trade it in in-store to get it right away they argued with me that I have to pay off the full balance on my bill, buy the new phone, then after I pay off the next bill I can trade in the phone.

Thank you if anyone can help at all!
