Mobile Data Speed

Until last month I had plan for 20GB/month and this month I upgraded my plan for 125GB. Before I used have preety good data speed, never had any troubles watching YouTube videos in 1080p or twitch. And after my upgrade my internet Speed seems significantly slow. YouTube can't even load 720p video without buffering. It looks like Virgin reduced my data speed so i can't use my full 125 GB data. This is a miserable experience not able to use internet how I want to use it. If any virgin employee find this comment please help, it's a miserable experience otherwise I might need to change network.

Hi there, @piyush. Welcome to the Virgin Plus Community, and thanks for your post.

For the Community to be better able to assist, could you please further details?

  • Is your new plan a 5G plan? If so, have you tried forcing your phone to only use 4G / LTE? This can be done from your phone's network settings.
  • Are you using a "grey market" phone? This meaning a phone not sold by Virgin Plus or Bell Mobility - it's important to note that we're unable to guarantee quality of service to phones not sold directly through us.
  • Have you tried inserting your SIM card into another phone to see if you can replicate the speed issue?
  • Do you see a change in speeds depending on what area you're in? i.e. a difference between being at home and being at work.
  • Have you called into Tech Support to open a ticket if need be?
  • Are you experiencing any issues with any other parts of your service? Calling, SMS/MMS, etc.

Had to same issue. Data speeds we're excellent on my 20gb plan, upgraded to 40 and it's almost unusable. If it's not fixed soon I will be changing carriers. Absolutely pathetic.

Where are you located? I have been having the same issues for months. I get 1mbps to 2 mbps. You read that right. 1 - 2. I called and spoke to the backend network techs. Apparently, the cell tower is overwhelmed and cannot provide enough bandwidth. There was no news on when they will be upgrading the tower. It was suggested to look for another carrier. I don't understand how this is. I'm like 2km from the tower.

I'm having the same issues; my data is completely unusable. I was with Bell prior and never had any problems at all. I have not reached my monthly limit since being with virgin, yet my speed is extremely slow. I will likely be switching back to Bell.

Thank you for the suggestions. Regretfully, those suggestions do not help at all. I really wish Virgin invest into expanding their network and not overloading it with customers. An increase in customers equals a smaller piece of broadband for each customer. 1 to 2 mpbs! I had these speeds when I used the first 486 home computers with dial-up internet.

In and around the GTA and Niagara. But it doesn't matter where I am it seems. Before I upgraded my plan I had amazing signal, but since I upgraded to more data it's brutally slow. Some areas in the city I don't even have signal. I use to be able to go camping in the woods and have better reception

Same thing here.   I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but when I took myself off 5G network, my internet speed vastly improved. But I think it's ridiculous that they can't offer a 5G network service.  I need to go back to Roger's

Hello, I have a 5G plan with Virgin. In the details of the plan it says speeds up to 250mbps. I noticed my phone was super slow the last few weeks. Decided to do a speed test I got 3.52mbps. Continued doing them all week was getting between 1-3 MBPS, I can barely watch a youtube video, its in 240p. I reset my phone many times and did the couple suggestions they have on their website and nothing fixes it. Def not getting what I paid for. How can I fix this? Before I go to another company.

3 Weeks ago we had a complete outage of LTE. Since then service has been horrible, super slow speeds and at times no internet. VoLTE calls sound robotic and or cuts out that is impossible to use.

I did a few speed tests here and one in Windsor, here is extremely poor, in Windsor I got 100+ Mbps! Came back and got 11 Mbps.

I don't know if anyone else is having the same issue but my 5G plan is really slow. I thought it would be my phone but I've swapped my sim to another phone and it's the same. Anyone else have the same problem?

Why is the data of all of my 3 phones are so slow
