Emergency Alert Notifications in the province of British Columbia, Canada

I use a flip phone - Cymbal 2 ZTE is the model. In British Columbia, Canada I received an Emergency Alert to my phone (notifications) as did all other BC residents the other day as a test of our Emergency System. I was able to delete the alert from my messages BUT NOT from the External Screen display where it continues to scroll across constantly. Can you please shut that off for me or tell me how to do it. AGAIN, this is my "External Screen" display. Not when the phone is open but when closed is where you would see this display. thank you.

Hi there, @tanner. Welcome to the Community.

ZTE manufactured flip phones may have a specific setting you can take a look in to for this issue.

  1. Go to Messages
  2. Options
  3. Settings
  4. Wireless Emergency Alerts
  5. Receive emergency alerts

From here you'll have multiple options for alerts you can turn on and off (Extreme Imminent Threat, Severe Imminent Threat, AMBER Alerts, Emergency RMT Tests [tested monthly], Presidential Alerts [cannot be turned off]). Try turning them each off and then on again and see if this clears the notification on your external screen.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

If VPKris' method doesnt work, Found this online as a possible fix for you.

  1. Select center enter button to bring up the menu.
  2. Select the notifications icon from the menu
  3. Select the ticker tape alert notification.
  4. Scroll to and highlight the text message alert. It should turn a darker blue colour. Press the center button
  5.  Scroll down to the bottom of the message, you will see a check box, check ok.

This should stop the message from scrolling across the Front screen of your mobile.

Should these steps work, i recommend saving this page in your bookmarks for the next Alert you may receive.

Let us know if it works.
