Checking voicemail from a different phone

Hello,

I would like to check my voicemail from a different phone, which virgin says is possible. I have my pin set up, could someone please provide instructions? Pressing star from a different phone after calling my number doesn't work.

Dial your mobile number, Press the # key when your voicemail recording starts, enter your pin at the prompt.

Dial your number. As soon as the greeting message starts, hit # . If you go to the recording, you won't be able to get your messages; in that case hangup and repeat.

If you get to the recording, you can't enter your personal PIN number. You need to do it before the recording starts.

I  haven’t found that this actually works and have tried multiple times to very quickly hit the # key as soon as the voicemail voice starts (ie well before the beep / recording). Please help!
