I have a balance in my prepaid account but I want to switch to autopayment. Can I get my balance?

I have a prepaid plan that has a significant balance that is used to pay my monthly bill and I just top up when needed with the credit card that is registered to the account.

There is an offer where I can get bonus Data MB if I switch to auto payment.

What happens to my balance if I switch to auto payment?  Can it be refunded to the credit card on file?

Even if I just wait a few months to lower the balance, there will still be a small amount remaining.

Hey there @alandla

Welcome to the Community and good question.

As you're subscribed to a prepaid service, Virgin Plus does not have the ability to issue refunds for the accumulated balance. We suggest to not add an automated payment method until your balance as been fully consumed.

But then does mean I can not take care of the bonus Data?

Wouldn't 4 months worth of money in my balance (my usual balance since I have been with Virgin Mobile for a decade) qualify for auto payment?

The accumulated balance does not qualify as a form of auto-payment. However, the balance would not be lost if you chose to activate the auto-payment to benefit from the bonus data.

The accumulated balance would be maintained on your account for your use in case you need extra usage on any given month until consumed.

After activating the $100/year prepaid annual plan, I kept getting charged $15 every 30 days on my credit card. At first I didn't understand what was happening, and after looking through the support pages on Virgin Plus' web site, I realized these were automatic charges to prevent the prepaid balance from expiring. Afterwards, I did a manual top-up of $100 to prevent account balance expiration for a year. I now have a balance of $175.

When the annual plan is up for renewal, will the $100/year cost of the plan be deducted from the $175 prepaid balance I have with Virgin Plus, or will I be charged $100 from my credit card?

Thank you for considering my question.
