Hi everyone,

We wanted to take a minute and remind everyone that it is important to read the entirety of the feature description including the FAQ's and Good to Know sections to ensure that you familiarize yourselves with all of the key points of the feature.

You can find details such as ;

  • You will only be charged for a maximum of 20 days per line in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and a maximum of 20 days per line in other international destinations within the same billing period. Additional charges for data top-ups still apply.
  • Certain types of usage will not result in the daily charge, including: making a call to Virgin Plus Care, receiving texts, or using non-chargeable data.
  • Speed and signal strength may vary due to roaming partner’s network technology, traffic, topography, environmental conditions and other factors.

I am very disappointed; Roam Sweet Roam is very expensive! Particularly for a lengthy holiday.

I agree, this is very disappointing. So much more expensive.

Virgin, why did you not disclose or announce this?  I am heading to USA tomorrow and the Roam Sweet Roam doesn't work for me.   Heading to Public Mobile when phone paid off in a month.

VERY disappointed that you eliminated the 30 day travel pass.

No, Roam Sweet Roam does not work for those of us travelling in the US for 30 days at a time.

It was the last reason for me to stay.   Gone when phone paid off in May.

If you buy a zone travel pkg, do you still pay roaming charges?

So let me get this straight. Most people would like to pay more to be able to call home. I used to get a travel pass that started at 30 and the last time was 80, but now you want me to pay 112 for the same thing. And this kicks in as soon as i make 1 text or a phone call. I have been a customer for years and never had a problem. This seems to be to me anyway a money grab. With everything else going up i guess virgin had to follow suit. So sad

This response is not a solution.

We are in the middle of a trip and without warning are not able to renew the Travel Pass for the final 30 days. The budget of $80 a month would have gone to $480! Completely unreasonable and leaves us stranded without backup. Unfortunately our business phone will not accommodate eSIM.

Very underhanded that there was no advance notice!

I chose Virgin because of the travel pass and it allows me to add the phone in the travel budget. I was checking to renew for my third 30 day pass for the trip home and very disappointed to see this option now gone. The response that it was preferred by most members reeks of corporate PR speak. No notification, huge increase in cost, really doesn't speak well of the Virgin culture. Show us the data that your members "preferred" that pricing model. I would expect that most of us preferred the choice of the two models. One works for short trips, the other for longer.

Very disappointed in Virgin.  The reason I switched was because of the travel pass and will be switching to another provider as soon as I get back to Canada

Well you guys at Virgin have now lost me as a customer.  No advance notice in the middle of my trip to the USA and now no cell phone for the rest of the trip because I am not prepared to pay the $13 per day.  I switched to Virgin because of the roaming package you had and now I will switch to someone else as quick as I get back to Canada.  You guys have missed the boat getting rid of the 30 day roaming packages.  GOODBYE!

What a crap response from Virgin. I am in the middle of a six week trip in the US. I've been a customer for over four years and I've used the the 30 day travel pass over 20 times while travelling in the US for multi week trips over those four years. I use my phone almost every day with a couple of of short calls and little bit of data - don't need much since I normally have access to wifi on my trips but its nice to have when driving around to various locations. I've spent around $1200 over the past four years on these travel passes. If I had used roam sweet roam (what a stupid name) i would have spent $3600 ( 20 trips x 14 days x $13). That's the reason for the switch not because customer prefer roam sweet roam - more money.

I got a travel pass for the trip a month ago and it expired yesterday. I went to renew and nothing available. If I switch to the roaming plan for the next two weeks it will cost me $180 instead of the $60 that I would have spent.

For that money there are alternate choices down here in the US and when I get home, Good bye V+

I feel your pain. I am leaving Friday for 30 days in the US and have always added Travel Pass when leaving. I even checked a couple weeks ago to verify 30 day pass rates etc, but didn't add it as the 30 days would have begun then, leaving me short while away. Looks like this changed just as March break was beginning.

As as 20+ year customer with multiple devices and home internet, I am VERY dissatisfied with Virgin's decision to abruptly cancel these 30 day plans. Customer service rep lied to me and said they were building new better 30 day plans so they had to take the old ones down... I asked for Supervisor who told me they had technical issues and had to take plans down to fix them, but said they were now gone.

I guess I'll spread the word on social media to let my family and friends know... I might have no choice but to cancel all my services and move to another company...

I have to agree with the many comments made by long term customers who are also out of country for extended periods of time. What nonsense to state this is what customers want, their bills going from $60 to $400 per month. Roam Sweet Roam is just a way of trying to gouge customers.
Time to look for a new provider, or perhaps to get one of those sweet deals from a US provider for the winter.
