&lt;P&gt;Error code 2001 on a modem typically indicates a critical connectivity failure. The modem is powered on but cannot establish a stable or registered connection with your internet service.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Here are the standard steps to troubleshoot this issue, from simplest to most likely to resolve the problem.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;H3&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;1. Power Cycle Your Modem&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/H3&gt;
&lt;P&gt;This is the most common fix for modem connectivity issues.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;OL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Unplug&lt;/STRONG&gt; the power cord from the back of the modem.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Wait&lt;/STRONG&gt; for at least 60 seconds. This allows the modem to fully reset.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Plug&lt;/STRONG&gt; the power cord back in.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Wait&lt;/STRONG&gt; for 5-10 minutes for the modem's lights to become solid. The "Online," "Internet," symbol light should be solid blue. If it continues to blink, move to the next step.&lt;/LI&gt;

&lt;H3&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;2. Check All Physical Connections&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/H3&gt;
&lt;P&gt;A loose cable can cause a connection failure.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Fibre Cable:&lt;/STRONG&gt; Ensure the fibre cable coming from the wall or Optical Network Terminal is connected tightly to the back of the modem.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Power Cord:&lt;/STRONG&gt; Make sure the power adapter is firmly connected to the modem and the wall outlet.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;/UL&gt;
&lt;H3&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;3. Check for a Service Outage&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/H3&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The problem may not be with your equipment but with the service.&lt;/P&gt;
